ReformUK Herts Website update and upgrade

Hello, this is musings about an update on the ReformUK Herts website.

Since it's launch in November 2023 with hardly any clicks or visits,  fast forward to June 2024 and the website hit 23.4K impressions..  It has told us what the top performing, top growing and top query pages are.  We have learnt from social media that content on the website brings interested parties in.  So with this information and a lot more out there it is time to have another look of how it is structured. This will take a few months, mainly because it is a part time effort and other duties call 😂.

If you can think of anything that needs incorporating or have an idea please contribute.

This is a general view of mine and will of course alter in time as well as other contributions and practicalities alter too.

Website

Revamp the structure as the original was for candidate involvement but we have learnt it was the wrong way to go. So this will be streamlined but we will still keep Ward pages as these have proved very beneficial to voters interested in their local candidate and what is going on in their area, perhaps this needs expanding more or redefining

Get Involved

This page is built around a database to collect information of volunteers for across the county and has done pretty well.  Some areas have benefitted more than others.  We will change this from the database and put the data into ReformCRM, which will allow better management

Newsletter

This has picked up a number of subscriptions and we have a database of interested people.  This will be changed and revamped into the marketing application and CRM

New Website Structure

To use this information we have been gaining to our advantage we have moved away from the database to a CRM, still collecting the same info but better able to manage where our followers are and more.

Also another addition is a marketing application that we assist us greatly on social media as well as other ways.  This is where our new Newsletter will come from because now we can design specific news letters for different wards,  subscribers etc

Social Media

This has turned out quite fine, in so much as we have learnt a lot. In the early days we tried a type of blog, various articles in a section under Opinion, this wasn't available from the website menu but only accessible from social media.  What we learnt was where we was getting a couple of visits per day when these articles were shared on twitter our visit rate hit the 30 - 50 visit rate per evening.

A thought is to actually have this page or similar on the menu and perhaps with comments.  This brings visitors, and if they wish to comment, they must register first.  These then become potential 'customer, volunteers, voters'

The file repository

This is still lurking in the background and hasn't been used so far but that is understandable and maybe required if we can get the other candidates onboard.

More to be added as we delve into the depths of the code.......

Thank you for getting this far. 😃
