THANK YOU for your support!
Last month we announced our plans to stop Hertfordshire County Council's plans to rollout 20mph Zones across the county, with £2.3 million earmarked for the project in HCC’s 2024-25 budget.
John Dowdle (St Albans PCC) started a petition with the target of getting 1000 signatures in order to bring the issue firmly to the attention of councilors at County Hall.
With your support we managed to achive a whopping...
1510 SIGNATURES!
All in two weeks!
This campaign has sent off a shockwave across the county, with reports of the petition being covered across local news media including Hemel Today, Bishop’s Stortford Independent, Watford Observer and the St Albans Times, to name a few. With Reform putting on the pressure, the Tories are already trying to distance themselves from their own plans, with the Watford Observer reporting that Cllr Phil Bibby is ruling out blanket 20mph zones.
So what's happening now?
Because of the petition's success, John Dowdle will be speaking in person to present the petition to HCC’s Highways & Transport Cabinet Panel, TOMORROW, at County Hall, and give them the message, loud and clear, that people do not want their council tax wasted on pointless projects like this!
You can view it LIVE at http://www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/watchmeetings 12th of March at 10am (Item 2 on the agenda)
We will try to obtain a recording for the website.
We would like to say a massive THANK YOU, to all of you who helped by signing the petition, those who have spread the word on social media and also for the kind messages of support coming in.
If we've learned anything from this, it is that we can burst the bubble of consensus at County Hall, with focused and targeted opposition to what they're up to.
There is so much going on in Hertfordshire that's wrong, but we don't have eyes everywhere, so we need your help...
If there are any issues affecting your area that you're concerned by, please get in touch with your Prospective Parliamentary Candidate, and together we'll work on righting what's wrong.
