Plans to build 86 homes on the expansive grounds of a mansion have been submitted.
Starveacres, off Watford Road on the west side of Radlett, is the subject of an outline planning application added to Hertsmere Borough Council's planning portal last week.
The 20th century detached Edwardian property is surrounded by grounds including a tennis court, riding manège, stables, outbuildings, sheds, and other structures.
All of this would be demolished to make way for a new curved road leading to dozens of new properties.
Proposed homes include 10 four-bedroom houses, 44 three-bedroom houses, seven three-bedroom apartments, 13 two-bedroom flats, and 12 one-bedroom flats.
However, this could change with a future full application as only outline plans have come forward at this stage.
The site has “long been identified as suitable for residential development”, according to application documents. While it was "formerly within the green belt", the applicants highlight that it has been included in the latest draft list of sites for Hertsmere’s local plan.
They add that it would make a “valuable contribution” to the area’s housing supply and 40 per cent of homes would be designated as affordable housing.
June 30 has been set as the determination deadline and neighbours have until May 6 to give their views as part of the consultation process.
