Hertfordshire County Council has set out a new adult care strategy backed by £563 million of funding, nearly half of its £1.2 billion front-line budget for 2026-27. The plan focuses on better support for unpaid carers, improving access to information, and tackling loneliness and social isolation, which officials say are growing challenges for older residents. With 78,333 support requests made last year on behalf of more than 40,000 adults, most aged over 65, demand is only heading one way.
